Pollo was seized from a man who kept several wild native birds. The man had no official documents or permits for keeping the animals. They were brought to us via a bird rescue centre.

Where does it feel at home?

The black-bellied sandgrouse is found in north-west Africa, the Canary Islands and from Turkey to Nepal and western China.

What does it like to eat?

Black-bellied sandgrouse eats seeds and shoots.

Fun fact:

The black-bellied sandgrouses that live in the more southern areas are sedentary birds. The grouses in the northern areas migrate south in the winter.
