Animals in our sanctuary
Bachuz
The animals from the time when De Zonnegloed was a children's education farm will of course continue to live in De Zonnegloed. Bachuz is one of the animals that was already present from the beginning, before we became a sanctuary.
Where does he feel most at home?
The Emu lives in the less densely populated areas of Australia.
What's his favourite food?
They are nomadic birds. They’ll follow the rain in search of seeds, flowers, fruit, buds, shoots, insects or caterpillars.
Fun fact
There’re the second largest bird species, right after the ostrich.
They’re the only bird spices with calf muscles. They can travel great distances in a fast trot, but if necessary they can reach 50km/hour for a short time.
