Emoe Sidney werd samen met twee andere emoes, zeven pauwen en 105 kuikens in december 2023 in Rotselaar in beslag genomen. De dieren werden in slechte omstandigheden gehouden en verkeerden in slechte conditie. Het Animal Disaster Team (ADT) bracht de dieren naar het Natuurhulpcentrum.

Emu Riley was confiscated in December 2023 in Rotselaar, Belgium along with two other emus, seven peacocks and 105 chicks . The animals suffered from poor living conditions. The Animal Disaster Team (ADT) brought the animals to Natuurhulpcentrum.

Where does he feel most at home?

The Emu lives in the less densely populated areas of Australia.

What's his favourite food?

They are nomadic birds. They’ll follow the rain in search of seeds, flowers, fruit, buds, shoots, insects or caterpillars.

Fun fact

There’re the second largest bird species, right after the ostrich.

They’re the only bird spices with calf muscles. They can travel great distances in a fast trot, but if necessary they can reach 50km/hour for a short time.
