Morelia is een van de zovele slangen die door particulieren worden gehouden, maar die de zorg voor de dieren niet aankunnen. Ze worden binnengebracht door de particulieren zelf, ze worden in beslag genomen of worden opgevangen nadat ze gedumpt werden en door andere mensen gevonden.

Where does he feel most at home?

The carpet python lives on the savannas and mountain forests of Australia and New Guinea.

What’s his favourite food?

They love to eat lizards, mice, rabbits and other small mammals, but also birds.

Fun fact

The two grooves in the head are highly sensitive heat sensors. These allow the carpet python to locate its prey with unimaginable precision and thus strangle it instantly.
